Privacy notice for UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Leicester
Leicester City Council has been designated a ‘Lead Local Authority’ for the delivery of the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities UK Shared Prosperity Fund. To fund services to deliver the local programme, we are running an open application process for grant funding.
Leicester City Council will act as a ‘data controller’ for any personal data that you provide to us. As such, we will ensure that the data you give us is processed in line with our organisation’s data protection obligations.

What personal information will the Council process?
The information that we collect as part of your bid submission, and ongoing contract management arrangements relates to:
Your name, contact details including email address and telephone number, and any details you choose to provide regarding your staff and contractors as part of your bid application.
Lawful basis for processing
The legal basis for our use of your personal information will generally be one or more of the following:
- Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract.
- We need to process personal information to comply with legal obligations, e.g., to comply with procurement law.
- Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller (The Council)
We may also need to process information relating to criminal records where there is substantial public interest.

Will my information be shared with other organisations or used for other purposes?
The Council will only share your personal information with other departments within the Council, and with other organisations when it is necessary to provide the services to you, and when we have a lawful reason to do so. The Council may also share your information when we are obliged to by law.
In relation to this service, as part of the process of selecting bid applications and monitoring the UKSPF Leicester programme, Leicester City Council may share your personal data with relevant government departments including where appropriate:

The data may also be shared with contractors where they are used for monitoring purposes, to evaluate the programme. Their contract will set out what they are permitted to do with personal data.
The information will only be used for another purpose where it is lawful to do so.
Do I have to provide the information?
You are not obliged by statute to provide the information that is specified here. However, to apply for UKSPF funding, you will need to supply the information.
How long will the council retain the data for?
If your bid application is successful, the information that you have provided will be held for up to three years following programme completion. This is currently estimated to be March 2028. As part of the monitoring process.
Should your bid application be unsuccessful, we will erase your personal data three years from the closure of the bidding process. This is currently estimated to be June 2026.
