Leicester Adult Education

Leicester Adult Education is a local authority Adult and Community Education Service.

About our organisation

The service directly delivers a very wide range of courses and associated activities to Leicester residents. Courses offered include:

  • ESOL, English and maths
  • Digital skills and employability
  • Vocational qualifications such as supporting teaching and learning ins schools
  • Arts, pottery, jewellery and textiles
  • Languages such as French, Italian and Spanish
  • Family Learning in many of the city’s primary schools
  • A bespoke programme for adults who experience severe and enduring mantal health difficulties (REMIT)

Bespoke programmes are developed in partnership with public health and housing to engage the most disadvantaged in the community through the Let’s Get Resourceful programme, tackling the cost of living crisis, digital exclusion and the integration of new arrivals. A key aim of the service is combat loneliness and community exclusion.

Leicester Adult Education is lead for the Multiply programme and has developed and delivered an innovative and creative programme in partnership with local employers and learning delivery partners. 

In addition, Leicester Adult Education provides impartial Information, advice and guidance about learning and employment, a flexible programme of employability courses and individual careers advice which is MATRIX accredited.

About our UKSPF project

Everyday English is an innovative ESOL programme led by Leicester Adult Education and delivered in partnership with local community organisations aimed at engaging and supporting Leicester residents with limited English skills. Enrichment activities are also on offer to boost participants’ confidence and increase their independence. A caseworker will be providing learners with individual support to remove barriers and raise awareness of existing services and promote further learning and volunteering and employment opportunities. Classes are free and accessible in the city centre in Leicester Adult Education College and in numerous venues across Leicester.
