Cemetery and crematorium fees and charges

Prices for cemetery and crematorium are effective 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025. All children’s burial and cremation fees are free to bereaved parents and will be paid by the Children’s Funeral Fund for England.

Cemetery fees

Please note: Exclusive rights of burial are granted for a period of 50 years. Resident grave purchase fees based on permanent address of applicant. Non-residents arranging the interment of city resident following death will qualify for city resident fees.

Lawn grave

(Headstone only allowed)

City resident:

Please note: Resident interment fees based on permanent address of deceased. Non-residents with a permanent address in the city in the 12 months prior to death will qualify for city resident fees.

A memorial permit must be obtained before any memorial is installed or modified in a cemetery. Permit fee also covers administration and memorial safety inspections by cemetery

Headstone not exceeding 4 feet in height and 3 feet in width. It also must be made of stone.

  • After grave dug: 100% interment fee

Crematorium fees

  • Attended service*, 10.30am onwards (18 and over): £1,040
  • Unattended off-peak service (18 and over) ** (available 8.30am-10am only): £785
  • Unattended direct cremation** (from 8.30am to 10am only): £470

  • Foetus (under 24 weeks gestation): no charge

* Includes cremation, use of chapel (1 hour to include entry and exit) & Obitus music system, medical referee fee, environmental surcharge,
cremation certificate and ash box. Excludes miscellaneous items.

  • Live webcast with 28 days repeat viewing: £85

  • Video book (portable video of the service, Tribute or both, set in its own A5 electronic screen with 5 functional buttons, encased in a linen-wrapped ‘book’): £100
  • Memory box (upto 25 photos professionally printed and delivered in a bespoke linen-wrapped box alongside the service, tribute, or both, on DVD and USB.): £135

Use of chapels

  • Additional chapel time (up to 1 hour): £240

Surcharges/cancellations

  • Saturday surcharge (strict rotation from 9am & subject to staff availability: 50% of cremation fee
  • Late cancellation fee (if cancelled within 48 hours of service): £250
  • Temporary storage of ashes (after first month): £20 per month

  • Late arrival of funeral service (for funerals that commence more than 1 hour late and subject to later burial or cremation time being available): £250
