I don't live in the city

You must apply for a bus pass from the local authority responsible for the area where you live. If you do not live in the city of Leicester and you're a resident within Leicestershire County Council boundaries, you will need to apply to them directly:

Personal Transport Budgets

A personal transport budget (PTB) is a payment that helps get children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to and from school.

It is available to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who have been assessed as eligible to receive Home to School transport by Leicester City Council.

Consultation on SEND school transport funding proposals 2025/26

We are proposing changes to the way we provide transport for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Due to rising costs and budget pressures the council is considering withdrawing transport support for Post-16 learners starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, with some exceptions. Some of the proposals will affect children of all ages.

This could have a significant impact on families. We want to hear from anyone who will be affected by these changes. Find out about the proposals and share your views through our consultation survey. The survey closes on 2 January 2025.

Paper versions of the survey for adults or for young people are available on request. Please contact us to request paper surveys. Paper surveys need to be returned by 31 December 2024. The online survey is open until 2 January 2025.
