How to use the Planning Register

To access the information you require, please follow the steps listed below:

  1. Once you have opened the Planning Register click ‘Agree’, then enter the application number in the reference number box and click ‘Search’.

Please note: For planning applications or section 106 agreements use the 8-digit planning application number (e.g. 20081234). For enforcement notices use the 8-digit contravention number ending with a C (e.g. 19834037C).

  1. Once the search results are displayed, click on the application number. This will bring up all details which relate to the application/agreement in question.

Please note: To view enforcement notice details, when the search results are displayed select the enforcement tab rather than the planning tab then click on the application number.

  1. Once you have selected the application you should be able to see all application details. If you then click on the Document tab at the top of the page you will see a list of all decision notices, agreements and application documents which relate to the application.

Unable to find application details or want advice on the status of an agreement?

If the required application details cannot be found or you wish the planning department to provide advice on the status of an agreement or discharge of conditions the query can be submitted by visiting Pre-Application Advice. There is a fee of £42 payable for this service. Please note that if your query is urgent, we suggest contacting the planning department by email at [email protected], once you have submitted your request to let them know that the query is urgent.

Please note

Records of discharge of planning conditions before 2009 are not available because there was no formal process to discharge planning conditions. However, record of discharge of conditions applications submitted to Council since July 2009 could be found online. If applications for discharge of conditions are not listed in site planning history, it means conditions were not formally discharged. Planning conditions in breach for 10 or more years are immune from enforcement action under planning legislation, no action can be taken against those breaches.
