Do something amazing

Thinking about making a positive change this year, why not start by contacting our fostering team? Each year nearly 500 children stay with foster families in Leicester. This can be for a week at a time or for several years.

Children come from all communities and range from new-born babies to young teenagers, and sometimes brothers and sisters need a home where they can stay together. Disabled children can need short breaks for one weekend a month or more permanent care. Whatever type of fostering you choose, you will be making a real positive difference in a child's life.

To find out more about what fostering for Leicester City Council entails, come along to one of our information events. You can keep up-to-date with our events by joining us on Facebook - Leicester Fostering.

Dave and Maddie, Leicester
“Fostering for Leicester meant that we could choose the age-group and type of child we want to foster. The fostering team always try to match the right child to the right foster family which is best for the kids and for us."

How much do our carers earn?

We have a tiered payment scheme that reflects the age of the child you foster as well the skills and experience you bring to fostering. There are additional generous payments for carers for children aged over eleven as well as carers for sibling groups. We also provide extra financial support for a range of activities as well as for birthdays, holidays, and celebrations.

Our Leisure Fund covers additional expenses relating to children’s hobbies, and sporting, cultural or educational activities. We also provide all the equipment you need to get started. View our fostering allowance page for more information on payments available, or contact us using the details below for more information.
