From Monday 6 January 2025 the opening times for the Customer Support telephone lines are changing. Please see the revised hours from 6 January for each service below.

To help us prioritise those customers that need additional support on the phones, we have improved our online offering so you can access more services online 24/7. We recommend you use our online services if you are able to do so.

Environment

To report urgent environmental problems such as damage that has or is highly likely to cause immediate harm to a person or property, a traffic collision, dangerous dogs, hazardous spillages or offensive graffiti:

  • 0116 454 1001 (8am - 6pm)

  • From Monday 6 January 2025 this service will be available 8.30am - 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am - 4.30pm on Fridays

  • Emergency helpline (out of hours only 6pm - 8am): 0116 254 4344

  • From Monday 6 January 2025 this emergency service will be available 5pm - 8.30am Monday to Friday, and 4.30pm Friday - 8.30am Monday

Please report all other environmental issues on Love Clean Streets.  

Waste Management

You can report a problem with your bins, missed collection or request a replacement bin on My Account. 

  • 0116 454 1002 (Mon – Fri 9.30am - 3.30pm)

  • From Monday 6 January 2025 this service will be available 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am - 4pm on Fridays

Adult Social Care and Safeguarding

Call the following number for enquiries about blue badges, carers, community and day centres and any other issues regarding social care and health:

  • From Monday 6 January 2025 this service will be available 8.30am - 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am - 4.30pm on Fridays

Children's Social Care and Safeguarding

Call the following number for general enquiries:

If you have concerns for the health and wellbeing of a child, contact the Duty and Advice Service on 0116 454 1004 (open 24 hours). 

Council Tax and Business Rates

Enquiries relating to council tax including discounts, exemptions, reductions for disabled people, council tax support and making payments. As well as queries related to NNDR business rates:

  • 0116 454 1005 (Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri 8.30am - 5pm, Weds 9.30am - 5pm)

  • From Monday 6 January 2025 this service will be available:

8.30am - 4.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

9.30am - 4.30pm Wednesdays

8.30am - 4.00pm Fridays

Homeless and emergency housing advice

  • From Monday 6 January 2025 this service will be available 10:00am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 10.am - 4pm on Fridays

  • Out of hours: 0116 221 2770 (Weekends, or 5pm to 8am Monday to Friday)

However, please note if you have a homeless emergency between 8am and 10am that cannot wait, you can call 0116 454 1008 to be triaged.

From Monday 6 January 2025 the triage service will be available 8.30am - 10am Monday to Friday.
