Information on building control related matters

• The Planning Portal

  This Government web site provides a wide range of Building Regulation information, and advice on how to apply for various types of common building work. It also provides links to the Building Regulations and the Approved Documents.

• Local Authority Building Control (LABC)

The largest building control provider in the country. LABC is a leading member   of the Building Control Alliance.

Through LABC Consult we can provide Fire Risk Assessments, SBEM calculations, air tests, acoustic testing etc as a whole package if required

• New Homes Warranty 

     A LABC partner providing warranty cover for new homes

• Severn Trent Water

Where you are building near or over a sewer you need to consult Severn Trent.   Many private drains will be classed as sewers and will be under Severn Trent's control from 1st October so requirements on site may change.

 

• Competent Persons Scheme

  For certain works a registered contractor can self certify that work complies with the regulations. A list of current schemes is available on the Communities website.

• Submit-a-Plan 

  Building Regulation applications can be made electroniclly through this website

• Gas Safe Register

     Anyone fitting or working on a gas appliance must be on the Gas Safe Register

• ACAI:  Body overseeing private Approved Inspectors

Health and safety on construction sites

• If you are having construction or refurbishment work done, you may need

  to notify the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and you may have other

  duties as well - eg under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007

• Health and Safety on construction sites is overseen by the Health and Safety Executive. Visit the HSE website for general advice about health and safety on construction sites.
