Independent remuneration panel

The law requires that all councils periodically appoint an Independent Remuneration Panel (IRP) to consider the allowances paid to their elected members.

We agreed to set up an IRP to conduct a review for Leicester at our full council meeting on 6 July 2023. The IRP has since held a series of meetings and has presented its final report, which is attached below.

The report of the IRP is to be considered at the full council meeting on 21 March 2024.  When considered, Councillors will have the choice to accept in full, accept in part or reject the recommendations of the IRP.
